When opening a "work-shared" model (a model with worksets) sometimes the "Create New Local" is greyed out.
There are a few possibilities why the button is greyed out.
- The workshared model was saved in a different version than the Revit version used to open the model.
- The central model has been renamed than the original name it was saved and synced for collaboration.
- The central model has been copied or moved to a new location than the original location it was saved and synced for collaboration.
When the "Create New Local" is greyed out, it should be a signal that the Revit version should be checked. Otherwise, it is possible that the model has been renamed, copied, or moved from it's original location. To resolve this, it is possible to do the following:
- Upgrade the model by opening it in a Revit version that is a later version than the model was saved in.
- Open the model using "Detach From Central" and then save as a new central either in a new location or *overwriting the model in its current location.
*Overwriting the model in its location is only recommended if the location is not for active collaboration. To be safe, save the current model in a new location as a back-up before overwriting any models.
Remember to always sync the model after saving, ensuring that "User-created Worksets" is checked to relinquish worksets borrowed.
