Once in a while, Revit's project browser may suffer a glitch and render the project browser frozen & unusable like the snapshot below.

These occurrences are considered rare, but annoying. There are actually a few other similar graphical errors but all similarly cause the project browser or properties to be unusable.

It may seem like no matter what you do the project browser or properties won't return to normal. You've already tried closing and opening your project, closing and opening Revit, restarting your computer, upgrading your drivers, and nothing seems to be work.

Here's one trick that may solve the problem, it's super simple. Combine the project browser with the properties. Then pull them apart again. Magically, the project browser glitch will have disappeared. See steps below.

  1. Grab the project browser by the top bar.

2. Move the project browser on top of the properties near the position of the arrow.

3. Grab the project browser and drag it out to the active window space.

5. Magically, the project browser glitch will have disappeared.

If the above trick did not work, another trick is to switch the Browser Organization settings to another view order. This may reset the project browser making it usable again. If you don't have another view order setting, simply create one.

  1. Open the Browser Organization settings.

  2. Select another View Order setting.

  3. Click OK to accept the changes.

  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 and select the original View Order setting to return the Project Browser back to its original state.
